They were developed in 1999 to provide a white-egg laying alternative to the Golden 300 Hybrid, and all offspring are reliably white. These ducks are hardy and adapt well to a wide range of climates, from tropical heat to cold temperate regions.

Identification
The White Layer Duck has a striking all-white plumage, complemented by bright orange legs, feet, and bill. Ducklings hatch yellow and gradually develop their pure white feathers as they grow. Their calm temperament makes them easy to handle, although some flocks may display nervousness if stressed early in life.
Breed History
Developed after the Golden 300 Hybrid to meet demand for white-egg laying ducks, the White Layer was selectively bred for both egg production and hardiness. The breed was designed for Southeast Asian balut production, where lighter-colored embryos are preferred. Over the years, White Layers have proven reliable and consistent, making them a favorite for commercial farms and backyard flocks alike.
Purpose
A dual-purpose duck primarily for egg production. White Layers are excellent foragers and produce high-quality meat in addition to their prolific egg-laying ability.
Eggs
White Layers lay 200–290 extra-large white eggs per year. The eggs are strong-shelled, nutrient-rich, and ideal for extended storage. Females rarely go broody, meaning more consistent egg production. Incubation typically lasts 26–28 days.
