8–10 years with proper care.

Identification

Cherry Valley Ducks are large, pure white ducks with bright orange bills and legs. They have a full, plump body with a horizontal stance. Drakes and hens are similar in appearance, though drakes are slightly larger. Their docile nature and calm temperament make them easy to handle.

Breed History

Developed in the United Kingdom as a high-performance Pekin hybrid, Cherry Valley Ducks were bred for rapid growth, high-quality meat, and strong egg-laying capabilities. The Cherry Valley brand has become synonymous with reliable, commercial duck production worldwide.

Purpose

A dual-purpose breed, Cherry Valley Ducks are ideal for meat production as they mature quickly and have tender, flavorful flesh. They are also good egg layers, producing 150–200 eggs per year, making them versatile for commercial and backyard keepers alike.

Eggs

Eggs are large, white, and suitable for both consumption and hatching. Hens are consistent layers and rarely go broody, ensuring steady production throughout the year.

Temperament & Behavior

Cherry Valley Ducks are calm, friendly, and hardy, tolerating a wide range of climates. They are non-flying ducks, which makes them easy to keep in confined areas. They forage well when given access to pasture or pond areas, making them low-maintenance for small-scale operations.

Genetic Profile

This hybrid strain was selectively bred for fast growth, high feed efficiency, and meat quality. Their genetics ensure uniformity in size and appearance, which is ideal for commercial producers seeking predictable performance.
